Researcher at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Cracow University of Technology

He completed his studies in the specialty of “cars and tractors” at the Cracow University of Technology in 1977. At this university, he defended his doctorate in 1986, and in 2007 he was awarded a postdoctoral degree. Since 2013, he has served as director of the Institute of Motor Vehicles and Combustion Engines, and currently heads the Department of Motor Vehicles at the Cracow University of Technology. He has held numerous scientific and research internships in foreign centers, including at Technische Universität Dresden, and in 1987-89 he held a scholarship and then a research internship at Ruhr Universität Bochum in Germany.

The circle of his scientific and research interests is defined by three groups of problems.
The first group of research, which he conducts, includes the search for solutions and systems to reduce emissions of toxic components of exhaust gases from means of transport.
The second area concerns the use of hydrogen and waste industrial and biological gases for energy purposes.
The third scope is marked by research on new vehicle propulsion systems, including operational research on hybrid vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Prof. Marek Brzeżanski has promoted 8 PhDs in technical sciences. He was a member of the Program Council for Air Protection in the City of Krakow, operating under the Mayor of Krakow, in which he served as vice-chairman.
